Talking about communication concerns
Prepare useful examples for a conversation.
Empowering Children. Supporting Families. Building Brighter Futures.

Describe what you notice.
Bring examples of how your child gets your attention, asks for things, responds to familiar people and joins activities. Describe both comfortable moments and situations that are difficult.
Make your questions specific.
- Which observations are important to discuss?
- Would an assessment or other professional input help?
- How can communication goals fit into our family routines?
If you have concerns about development, discuss them with your child’s healthcare professional rather than relying on a website to decide what they mean.
